- PhD degree combined with more than 10 years of relevant research experience in material sciences and systems analysis.
- Extensive experience in industrial ecology, environmental footprint analysis and multi-regional input-output models.
- Expertise related to circularity measures in the context of energy-material transitions and climate change mitigation.
- Leadership experience in executing collaborative research projects and credible science project management experience.
- Strong publication profile in leading journals with a competitive research citation profile.
- Demonstrated external grant-raising competencies, also for self-initiated proposals.
- A degree of flexibility and willingness to travel.
- Fluency in English and excellent presentation skills.

Appointment terms
The successful candidate should be available to take up the position as soon as possible in 2025. We offer an initial fixed-term, full-time employment contract for one year, with the possibility for extension thereafter.
Eligible applicants wishing to work part-time hours may be considered.
The place of work is IIASA in Laxenburg, near Vienna Austria.
The successful candidate will be appointed in accordance with the IIASA profiles for research careers (R3 or R4).

EUR 71,949.00 for senior research scholars (R3)
or
EUR 95,184.00 for principal research scholars (R4)
Salaries quoted are:
- Gross per annum (subject to deductions for health insurance and/or social security).
- Not directly comparable with other employers in Austria, due to the unique legal status and privileges granted to IIASA.
- Subject to the principle of income aggregation (Progressionsvorbehalt in German).
